Terms & Conditions of Service

Service Type: In-home pet care services (Scotland)


1. About Us

Highland Home Vet Nurse provides home services by a qualified veterinary nurse in the client’s home. All services are within the legal scope of a qualified veterinary nurse and do not replace veterinary treatment by a veterinary surgeon.


2. Services Provided

Services may include:

  • Nail clipping

  • External anal gland expression (where appropriate)

  • Administration of medication prescribed & labelled by a veterinary surgeon

  • Post-operative care support as advised by a veterinary surgeon

  • Senior pet care and basic health checks on healthy pets only- this is not a service for poorly pets.

  • Home drop in services and pet sitting have a separate T&C to read through and discussed on first meeting- see at the end.

We do not diagnose conditions, perform surgery, or prescribe medication. Any concerns outside our role will be advised to be referred to a registered veterinary surgeon.


3. Your Responsibilities

By booking our services, you agree to:

  • Give accurate and up-to-date information about your pet’s health and behaviour

  • Tell us about any history of aggression, anxiety, or biting/scratching

  • Ensure your pet can be handled safely

  • Provide a clean, safe, and suitable environment for us to work in

We may refuse or stop a service if important information is not disclosed.


4. Pet Behaviour & Safety

  • Your pet’s welfare and safety come first

  • We may stop a service if your pet becomes stressed, aggressive, or unsafe to handle

  • Muzzles or other safety measures may be used if needed

  • We are not responsible for injuries caused by pets where behaviour risks were not disclosed


5. Emergencies

  • If your pet becomes unwell during a visit, we will try to contact you

  • If we cannot reach you, we may seek veterinary treatment at the nearest suitable practice

  • Any veterinary fees are your responsibility


6. Access to Your Home

  • You must provide safe access to your home at the agreed time

  • We are not responsible for delays caused by lack of access or unsafe conditions

  • Any keys or access details will be kept confidential


7. Fees & Payment

  • Prices will be agreed in advance

  • Payment is due at the time of service unless agreed otherwise

  • Unpaid fees may result in future bookings being declined


8. Cancellations

  • Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or change an appointment

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice or missed appointments may be charged in full


9. Liability & Insurance

  • We hold appropriate public liability and professional indemnity insurance

  • All reasonable care will be taken while handling your pet

  • We are not responsible for:

    • Pre-existing health conditions

    • Age-related issues or normal stress responses

    • Problems caused by incorrect information provided by the client

Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights or excludes liability where this would be unlawful.


10. Privacy

Your personal information will be handled in line with data protection laws and only shared with veterinary professionals when needed for your pet’s care and with your consent.


11. Ending Services

We may stop or refuse services if:

  • There are safety concerns

  • These terms are breached

  • Payment is repeatedly late or unpaid


12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Scotland.


13. Acceptance

By booking or using our services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

Pet Sitting & Drop in Service Terms & Conditions

Highland Home Vet Nurse
Client‑friendly terms for pet sitting services in the Highlands of Scotland

  1. Who We Are

Highland Home Vet Nurse provides professional pet sitting services delivered by a qualified veterinary nurse. We offer experienced, calm, and compassionate care in your pet’s own home.

Please note: although we are a veterinary nurse, this service is pet sitting, not a veterinary clinic service.

  1. Services We Provide

Our services may include:

  • Feeding and fresh water
  • Walking (where agreed and safe)
  • Cleaning litter trays, cages, or small animal enclosures
  • Administering routine medications as instructed
  • Basic health and wellbeing checks
  • Playtime, companionship, and reassurance

Overnight stays are not provided. All visits are day or evening visits only, as agreed at booking.

  1. Bookings & Information
  • A meet-and-greet may be required before your first booking.
  • You agree to provide honest and up-to-date information about your pet’s health, behaviour, routine, and needs.
  • We reserve the right to decline or stop a service if a pet’s needs are beyond what was agreed or if safety is a concern.
  1. Your Pet’s Health & Medication
  • All medical conditions, medications, allergies, and behavioural concerns must be disclosed in advance.
  • Medications will only be given according to your written instructions and must be prescribed and labelled by a Veterinary surgeon/pharmacy.
  • A veterinary nurse cannot provide diagnosis or veterinary treatment without authorisation from a veterinary surgeon during pet sitting visits.
  1. Emergencies & Veterinary Care
  • You must provide an emergency contact and your registered veterinary practice.
  • If your pet becomes unwell or injured and you cannot be contacted, you authorise us to seek veterinary care on your behalf.
  • Any veterinary fees or related costs remain your responsibility.
  1. Behaviour & Safety
  • You confirm that your pet is safe to handle and does not pose a risk unless disclosed in writing.
  • Reasonable care will always be taken, but animals can behave unpredictably.
  • We cannot be held responsible for illness, injury, escape, or damage unless caused by proven negligence.
  1. Access to Your Home
  • You agree to provide safe access to your property for each visit.
  • We will treat your home with respect and confidentiality.
  • We are not responsible for household issues outside our control (e.g. power cuts, weather disruption, plumbing problems).
  1. Fees & Payment
  • Fees are agreed at the time of booking.
  • Payment terms must be met to secure your booking.
  • Additional visits or extended care may incur extra charges.
  1. Cancellations
  • Please provide as much notice as possible if you need to cancel.
  • Late cancellations or no-shows may still be chargeable.

No shows incur full booking fee charges, cancellations under 14days of services due incur no fee, cancellations under 48hrs incur 50% charge & under 24hrs before due services full payment is still chargeable. 

  • If paid upfront as most services require, refunds will be issued as per timings.
  • If we need to cancel due to illness, emergency, or severe weather (common in the Highlands), fees will be refunded or visits rescheduled where possible.
  1. Updates & Photos
  • We are happy to provide visit updates and photos for your peace of mind.
  • Photos will never be used publicly without your clear permission.
  1. Privacy & Data Protection
  • Your personal information will be kept confidential and used only to provide pet sitting services.
  • Information will only be shared if needed for your pet’s care or where required by law.
  1. Ending a Service

We may end a service immediately if:

  • A pet’s behaviour becomes unsafe
  • Important information was withheld
  • Access to the property is not possible

Payment for visits already completed will still apply.

  1. Agreement
